The University of Central Arkansas will host its annual Veterans Day Celebration Thursday, Nov. 5, in McCastlain Hall Ballroom, featuring a Veterans Information Fair and a ceremony honoring U.S. military veterans and active service members.

“Veterans Day gives us an opportunity to honor those who have served our country and recognize the lasting impact of their service,” Jay Faulkner, director of the UCA Veterans and Military Resource Center, said. “Through this celebration, we recognize the contributions of our veterans and active service members while connecting military-connected students and families with resources and support at UCA and beyond.”

The Veterans Information Fair will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until 3:30 p.m. The fair will feature a variety of organizations offering valuable information and assistance to veterans and military families, including employment opportunities, education benefits, VA home loans, disability claims and health care enrollment.

At 1:40 p.m., UCA will host a Veterans Day Ceremony recognizing the service and sacrifice of veterans across all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. The ceremony will include the presentation of a Bronze Star with Valor to Josh Sledd, pinned by World War II Veteran Floyd Brantley; remarks to honor the late Dr. Mark Elrod; an Armed Forces Salute; and musical performances by UCA’s Pinnacle Brass.

During the ceremony, Kassidy McJunkins will receive the Mark and Tracy Tidwell Scholarship, and Timothy Carter will receive the Veterans Day Scholarship in recognition of their dedication and service.

Both the fair and ceremony are free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.

The walk will be held on the campus of ASU-Beebe and starting near McKay Student Center. It will be approximately a one mile walk on sidewalks, flat terrain and handicap accessible. A shorter walk will also be an available option.

Registration/Check In will begin at 10:00 A.M. If you do not register online, you can register on site on that day. Bring your friends and family to walk with you! There is no registration fee, the walk is FREE and open to everyone.

Walk starts at 11:00 AM 

Feel free to wear Red, White and Blue clothing! 

Lunch will be served after the walk. Please fill free to bring a lawn chair!

There will be exhibits for you to visit with information focusing on veteran mental health support and Veteran Support Services.

Each year we have 50-100 entries to our parade, including floats, walkers, classic car & motorcycle clubs, marching bands, businesses, Veterans organizations, schools, churches, civic groups, and other associations join us to show their support for our Veterans.

The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. in Downtown Jonesboro. Parade participants should begin lineup and check in by 8:50 a.m. Spectators are encouraged to gather along the parade route and join friends, family, veterans, and fellow citizens in this meaningful community tradition.

Following the parade, a special Veterans Day Ceremony will be held in front of the Craighead County Courthouse, providing an opportunity for our community to pause and reflect on the freedoms we enjoy and the individuals who have helped preserve them.

The 2026 Jonesboro Veterans Day Parade will be emceed by Will Silas, with Rich Norris serving as emcee for the Veterans Day Ceremony.
