Patriot Guard Riders Host Wreaths Across America

(North Little Rock) A ceremony was held Saturday, December 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in honor of those who gave their lives in defending our nation’s freedoms.  As simultaneous ceremonies were also held around the country, Master of Ceremonies Jeff Hulsizer of the Patriot Guard Riders introduced members of the military and veterans organizations who laid wreaths in honor of those who have served our country.  “We shall not forget you.  We shall remember.”, he said.  He reminded the audience to teach their children about the veterans and the sacrifices they have made, “We want you to understand that the freedoms you enjoy today have not been free, but have come with a cost.”  Guest speakers included Fred Steube of the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs, Maumelle Police Chief Sam Williams and Sherwood Mayor Virginia Hillman.  Wreaths Across America has become a yearly event sponsored by the Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington, Maine whose story began over 15 years ago when they began a tradition of placing wreaths on the headstones of our nation's fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery.
