Wreaths Laid Across America
(North Little Rock) A moment of silence was recognized across the country Saturday, December 15 as wreaths provided by the Wreaths Across America program were placed on graves in state and national veterans cemeteries across the U.S. At 11:00 a.m. a ceremony took place at the same moment in North Little Rock at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Led by the Patriot Guard Riders and Daughters of the American Revolution, the ceremony recognized those who have fought and died for our country. A wreath was laid in memory of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Merchant Marines, POW’s and MIA’s who so bravely stood up for our country’s freedom. Master of Ceremonies Jeff Hulsizer said, “The United States of America was founded on the ideals of Freedom, Justice and Equality. Our Nation stands as a shining beacon of liberty and freedom to the world. We thank those who gave their lives to keep us free and we shall not forget you. We shall remember.” Representatives of military branches of service placed additional wreaths on the graves of those who have recently given their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan.
