Veterans Day Ceremony 2007 at State Capitol
(Little Rock) The Veterans Day Ceremony held at the State Capitol rotunda on Sunday, November 11 proved to be a moving and meaningful day for all. Representatives from over forty-five veteran’s organizations attended the ceremony along with state dignitaries including Governor Mike Beebe, LT Governor Bill Halter and Senator Mark Pryor. Vernon Bynum, State Commander of the American Legion was this year’s Master of Ceremonies. Colors were presented by the Arkansas Army National Guard Color Guard and music by the 106th Army National Guard Band. Keynote speaker Major General William Wofford, Adjutant General of the Arkansas Army National Guard, reflected on the history of Veterans Day and World War I “. . . the war that was supposed to have ended all wars
. . . in every era since, freedom has been threatened and each new generation has stepped forward in freedoms defense.” He ended by saying, “Veterans, America truly owes you a debt of gratitude.”
