Annual Tribute to all Fallen Service Men and Women
(North Little Rock) The Michael Vann Johnson, Jr., Post #74/District 15, American Legion in Sherwood held its 3rd Annual Memorial Observance and Remembrance in honor of all Iraqi War 
fallen comrades on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. A large crowd attended the ceremony despite the cold and drizzle. Master of Ceremonies R. D. Kinsey introduced Governor Mike Beebe and Senator Mark Pryor who honored the memory of the soldiers in their speeches. "We honor their sacrifice. We honor their dedication and we honor their memory, which . . . will not fade. It will not fade because it is our duty not to let it fade.", Beebe said. The hour long ceremony included a roll call of fallen heroes. Several family members of those killed in Iraq attended the memorial. Those who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan were also honored in a traveling tribute with American Flags along with a plaque with the individual’s photo and a short biography.
