Redesigned Military and Veteran License Plates Now Available
(Little Rock) The Department of Finance and Administration Office of Motor Vehicle has announced that as of Nov. 12, 2009 new military and veteran license plates are available.
The redesigned plates include a decal attached across the bottom of the plate indicating the war/conflict during the time served and a service branch seal decal attached on the left side for
$3.75 annually. For an optional $13.75 annual fee, certain service medal decals may be added
to the left side instead of the service branch seal. Proof of service and proof of medal awarded
are required. The additional $10 fee will be deposited into the Military Funeral Honors Fund.
This fund will be administered by the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs. A grant fund will
be established for burial honors teams that may be reimbursed for transportation costs and possibly other costs associated with providing honors services at military funerals.
This redesign does not currently include specialized plates such as Armed Forces Retired, Purple Heart, or Distinguished Flying Cross. Laws are in place regarding these plates. The Arkansas Legislature will address these plates at a future date. Please see your local Revenue Office for further information.
