Flag Program
During the spring term of the 1988-1989 school year, the state’s major veteran’s groups participated in the first state-coordinated effort to introduce Arkansas school children to proper flag etiquette. Through support from the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs, the Arkansas Department of Education, the Governor’s Office, County Veteran Service Officers, and the volunteer efforts of veteran's groups, this program has continued to provide flag education to fifth grade students throughout Arkansas' public school system. The "Long May It Wave" pamphlet print-out can be
used by classroom teachers, home school educators, scout leaders, civic organizations, new citizens or individuals who wish to
learn more about the proper care and treatment of our nation's flag.
