District Veteran Service Officer
Terry Thurman is an Army Veteran of 11 years. His career field while in the Army was Light and Mechanized Infantry. He served with the 2/27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division from 1998 to 2001. He then served and deployed with 3/15 Infantry Regiment and 26th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division from 2003-2009. His last assignment was training junior officers at the Mechanized Leaders Course with the 198th Infantry Brigade, Fort Benning, GA from 2009-2011. During his two deployments in support of Iraqi Freedom he earned the Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge. During his time of service he served as an infantry riflemen, team leader, squad leader, section sergeant, and platoon sergeant. The highlight of his career was leading soldiers into combat.
After separating from the Army he began working with Benton County Veteran Services in August 2011 through the VA work-study program. He was hired on full time as a County Veteran Service Officer in February 2013. He is a member of American Legion Post 100 Rogers, AR, and a member of the Northwest Arkansas Veteran Coalition.
Terry and his wife Angela reside in Pea Ridge with their 4 sons.
